We are going to have a relaxing weekend in preparation for our new 100 Amp service that is being installed on Monday. Luckily our electrician is a friend so we will skip town for a few days, rather than endue the lack of power. Our house in the country is entirely solar powered, completely off the grid! Sometimes friends will comment that the power went out and we have no idea!
The whole system cost less than it would of cost to install hydro! and we don't have to pay debt retirement fees! We bought a diesel Jetta the other week and we are in the process of converting it to run on veggie oil, which we can have for free from a friends bar on queen street.
On the twenty-sixth of November we are having our home inspected, through a federal & provincial program we will save about 20% on some of our upcoming renovations. We are planning to replace our standard gas water heater with an "on demand" one, and replace the furnace. We will also save on insulating the basement and upgrading toilets.
This is part of our plan to reduce our carbon footprint for all of our properties, and our lifestyle. It means walking to the supermarket, and using reusable bags, buying things that have less packaging. It is an entire switch from being consumers.

Getting it all together has been a gargantuan task!
You would be shocked how many times that I have been to my own web site in the past few weeks. Updating little tidbits, linking buttons maps, I have learned so much in the past few weeks. This weeks lesson in in Blogging, last weeks was Photoshop and the week before it was Final Cut. Were getting there.
We sold our condo in the east end (Leslieville?) of the city in the summer. But before it sold we bought a place in Parkdale, we were pretty sure that the 37 old Brewery Lane property would sell, but you do get worried.
Our agent Kim Kehoe gave us great advice about showing the house, and about what had to go. No Clutter! We have a solar powered house in the 1000 Islands, near Kingston, so all of the "extra" stuff went out there.
We made the video in about 10 minutes and we put it on youtube.com, and linked it to classified advertising around the country. We did this mostly out of a sense that nothing seemed to be happening, and we felt out of control.
We were shocked when we saw that we had received over 100 hits by the morning, in all we got almost 500 hits that week, and an offer from Vancouver to buy the property sight unseen! WOW!
So we took that idea and ran with it a bit, this site will be modified as we run out of room, and we will slowly offer our service in more and more markets. Today I posted on Craigslist.com looking for more Toronto area sales people, next month I'll be looking to do the same in Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver!
